I'm still alive! You didn't think so, did you? How have you been?

Apologies in advance... this journal's main function is to send an "I'm still alive" signal. After all, it's been more than a year since I last posted.

I haven't done much in the way of drawing during that time. It's like every time I pick up a pencil I can't decide on what to draw -- so many ideas -- so I don't draw anything. To get through that mood I'm starting to doodle randomly again. Should help to clear my head.

As for my personal comic project, I've finally found a good system to make notes and lay out the story into. It's the same problem like with my drawing in general: if I don't get stuff out of my head I'm never gonna start putting pencil lines on paper.
Looks like that story is getting bigger than I expected, by the way. Maybe I should release it as a web comic? I don't like the idea, but it may be the only way to keep the project going.

The weather in southwest and central Japan was simply unbelievable, only needed my (light) raincoat two times, very mild and sunny weather otherwise. Back in Holland now, which looks like it's wholeheartedly celebrating Autumn. I don't mind though... it's all in the game.


EDIT: by the way, I'm on dA for 4 years now!

Meanwhile, I've been drawing some more. Seems like I've developed a taste for tomboyish girls. I think Hayao Miyazaki is to blame, really... I've been watching a lot of Ghibli movies lately.
More of that when I finally finish something! Soon, I hope.

Finally, I'll be going to Japan for 3 weeks in September October. It's something I've wanted to do for several years -- during which every 'going to Japan' journal here on dA made me fairly jealous -- so I finally decided to do it. In fact, I was scheduled to go last April, but the trip was cancelled for obvious reasons. And two subsequent trips in September didn't have enough participants. So October it is.

Looks like it's official: I can write just one new yournal each year without the world exploding or receiving other structural damage of any kind -- not counting the damage it takes normally, of course.
